Updating an earlier entry, on May 6, 2013, Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed House Bill 1482 into law. This new law will take effect on July 1, 2013 and allows convictions to be erased. This law would apply to Misdemeanor offenses, including Battery, Criminal Conversion, Public Intoxication, Drunk Driving (DUI/OWI), and Possession of Marijuana. The new law can also be used to expunge Felony Convictions, such as Theft, Drug Possession, Battery or Fraud.
I believe this new law will allow hard-working citizens to clear their records and then, potentially, get better, higher paying jobs, and will benefit the State by having a more employable workforce.
